HRMI619 Internship Report on Bismillah Fabrics Ltd
The HRMI619 internship report program is arranged as a partial degree requirement by university it is to enhance the student’s ideas and knowledge about actual professional life and how to implement the knowledge earned into practical situations often involving quick decision making. To improve my professional knowledge and educational skills I performed my internship at Bismillah fabrics Ltd Faisalabad. The company is responsible for making bed linens, duvets and curtains etc. for national and international market. The company has several quality assurance certificates to its name.
During my internship program I have performed different tasks in accounting, marketing and HR department of Bismillah fabrics. Page number 4 holds all activities I have performed in Marketing department, similarly from page 6 I have included all my duties performed in the HR or administration department and page 7 has all my task activities performed in accounts department. I have noted during the time of my internship program that several problems are faced by employees in the organization like the training system of the organization is not satisfactory. Employees are not involved in decisions related to their job and the organization as a whole. Customer relationship management system is not effective and customers’ complaints against products are not fully accomplished by the company. The SWOT analysis performed for the company shows that the company has some threats and weaknesses that needs improvement and how the company can use its strengths to obtain the opportunities.
My HRMI619 internship report at Bismillah textiles in now complete, the aim of this my internship program was to get hands on experience and practical application of the skills and knowledge that I have learned during the course of my degree. During my internship period at Bismillah textiles some critical points have come under my observation mostly related to the company’s senior management and HR and marketing department. Some of the points observed are shared below:
Core weaknesses in Training and Development system:
Conceptually I have observed several weaknesses in the HR department of Bismillah textiles. Some of the weaknesses in the HR department were in the training department, sufficient training was not given to employees and some employees were not sent for training every year due to which many employees had difficulties in performing tasks on the job sometimes employees are over worked and burdened with extra work they cannot perform on time due to overworking. Whenever training programs are arranged for employees they are unrealistic and employees are unable to adopt the skills learned during training which means that a huge gap is present between actual training needs of employees and the training program content. The faculty arranged to provide employee training is not competent and some methods used for training are not on par with current training programs in other corporations.
Issues in Leadership of the Organization
The management is adopting both transnational and transnational leadership styles in mentioned company but employee views are not positive regarding to both styles. The managers could not talk about their values and beliefs, according to employee’s perception and as per my observation their leaders have not strong sense for planning and have lack of vision of the future. As per my observation their leadership did not talk’s optimistically about company future and have not emphasizes the importance of company mission, that is why I wrote that both leadership styles are survive in the organization but their behavior with employees is not satisfactory. They are not compassionate towards needs of their employees. Some employees also feel that the leadership in the organization usually overburdens them with work sometimes this type of work is beyond their knowledge and competence. From the view point of employees the leadership of the organization is not satisfactory.
Core issues in Performance appraisal system:
As I have observed during my internship program at Bismillah Corporation it came to my knowledge that several problems exists in the performance appraisal system of the company. The performance appraisal system is not on par with the one prevailing in the market. The performance of employees is not measured on actual results and the system of performance appraisal is not development oriented it ignores employees skills and competence shown during performing their duties. Employees are deprived from having any counseling related to performance appraisal system. Due to this bad performance of performance appraisal system employees are not satisfied.
Core problems in Marketing Department (Specifically CRM):
Bismillah fabrics have a poor CRM system and most of the employees have suggested that due to bad CRM the company has lost many of their loyal customers. The company is not focused on communicating with their customers for a more long term healthy relationship. Customers mostly complain about the bad attitude of the CRM staff when they call them to complain about a problem or factory defect in the product they have purchased, customers are not guided properly about the product’s warranty and the customer helpline is usually not available. Customers are endured to long hours of wait for information about their warranty or a defect in the product. Some customers also want information regarding the variety of products of the company but the website is not providing complete information and the staff at the helpline is unaware about the products as well.
Employees exclusion from major decision making in the organization
During the course of my internship program at Bismillah textile I observed that employees are usually excluded from major decisions related to the future of the organization. They are not told about the changes that are to be brought by the management in their daily routine duty. Employees are not given a choice to choose what they want to perform. Sometimes the organization management makes major changes to the job description and methods of completing a task without notifying or discussing it with middle management employees. Hence employee participation is almost nonexistent in the organization. During stay at this organization I have observed that employees in this organization are not allowed to make any decision related to their daily activities or jobs.

- The Company capable to earn a profit before tax of Rs.1,160,043,304 and profit after tax of Rs.1,134,514,721 in 2013.

- The company using latest mechanized machinery for production as compare to their competitors.
- Tremendous market positioning strong brand image in consumer’s mind as compare to other companies.
- Highly motivated workforce due to effective reward and recognition system.
- The company has edge over competitors because this company has own power generation plant.
- Safe & healthy workplace for both staff & contractors as compare to competitors.
- Maximizing shareholders value by providing consistent growth and fair return their investment.
- Company has attained Quality Management certifications from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, UK in December 1997.
- The company implemented a professional integrated financial information system in the financial year 2009-2010.
Conclusion and recommendation
The internship program at Bismillah textiles taught me a lot I performed several tasks and activities during my internship program in accounts, marketing and administration department of the company. After completion of my internship I have come to few conclusions about the organization. Several weaknesses were found in the Human resource department specifically in the training department. Employees are not given sufficient training and some employees were not sent for training every year due to which many employees had difficulties in performing tasks on the job often employees are over worked and performance due to over working. The leadership in the organization is competent but their behavior with employees is not satisfactory. They are not compassionate towards needs of their employees.
