My effort and internship report on NBP dedicated to my parents and my brothers from whom I learned the art of sacrifice & who is a continuing source of inspiration for me. I wrote this Internship report on National Bank of Pakistan on University request.
National bank internship report Summary and Analysis
This report has been prepared after getting an internship in NBP _____. The virtual university has given me a task to do it in any organization. So I have selected the NBP for getting practical knowledge. I have divided my reports into various portions. The main purpose of this report is to analyze the HR activities adopt by the NBP. The first portions of my report consist of History of NBP, its board of Directors and review of the committee. Further Readers will able to understand about NBP mission and Vision too. In the next coming pages,
The report is giving a whole picture of NBP business volume, its products lines, what are the main clients, and what are the whole competitors. In the 3rd portion, I have written NBP department’s information, its task, all department function. So it will increase the awareness of the readers regarding NBP Departments activities. The other main and vital portion of my report is my tasks which have been assigned during the internship. In the report I have mentioned all departments I worked and got practical knowledge. Here I want to mention these entire departments which I got training.

The main portion of my internship report regarding NBP HRM activities will start after my training program. I have written the structure of HRM department, its recruiting process, selecting process, hiring process, training, and development, opportunities and benefits, labor management relation conduct by the NBP.
After this portion, you will be able to read about Critical analysis with my true observation. The report will also show you the SWOT analysis, where readers could able to understand NBP strength, weakness, opportunity, and threats. After that, I have also written a conclusion and necessary recommendation in light my finding.
Nature of the National bank of Pakistan
National Bank of Pakistan is basically a Financial Organization. It deals with borrowing, lending, and investing activities. The nature of operations conducted by the bank is different and unique from other Banks/financial institutions working in Pakistan. NBP is the largest commercial bank in Pakistan. It has balance sheet size greater than any bank in Pakistan. After redefining its role it has become a modern commercial bank rather than a public sector organization.
The Bank’s services are available to individuals, government, and corporate sector. It acts as trustee of public funds and also as the agent of the State Bank of Pakistan (in places where SBP does not have a presence). it has a diversified business portfolio and is today a front end player in the debt equity market, agricultural financing, corporate investment banking, retail and consumer banking, treasury services and is taking growing interest in developing the country’s small and medium enterprises. It is also fulfilling its social responsibilities of being a corporate citizen.

I have worked 7 weeks in the Branch, during my stay, according to my theoretical and conceptually observation, how this branch is currently functioning in the market. First I want to tell you, this analysis should be HRM perspective, but in the branch, no HRM department exist for analysis. HRM department exists in NBP head office, as I have worked in the branch, not in Head office. So my all observation will be base on my knowledge and conceptually.
Critical analysis according to Branch General Postpositive
I have observed during my stay in the branch, first branch look is not more attractive, as well as the floor too. A lot of maintenance and repair are required for better physically look, as it creates a good image in the consumer’s mind. Secondly, I have observed that NBP is not adopting very effective marketing strategy for promoting its business. NBP has fewer promotion activities as compared to another bank as it directly reflects the sales. Thirdly I have often observed, staff attitude towards customers dealing is not up to the market. Lot of complaint has been seen from the consumers regarding employee misbehavior. Fourthly I have observed, branch kitchen expensive are two high kitchen items are not properly used as tea man could care the kitchen items.
Critical analysis according to HRM Perspective
As we know that HR good practice will enhance the employee performance. Effective HR Practice leads to high employee efficiency. NBP HR practices have to be addressed in this position, in order to examine the attitude and performance of the workers. The fundamental variable of HR is good supervision, but NBP has not effective supervision. A good manager cannot prove a good supervisor so NBP needs good supervision, definitely, it will enhance the bank outputs. The second great variable is job training; I have observed that NBP is not adopting this strategy as compared to other banks. NBP has to conduct training program regarding employee work as most of the workers do not know how to do their job effectively.
Types of training required in NBP
During my stay at NBP, I have observed NBP have very poor training program system because a lot of the employee did not how to operate their operation activities too. So there are some types of training that Bank should have to conduct after assessment of the branch.
Policy frame work of the NBP
As we know that Policies are the great cause of frustration for the employee. I have observed that NBP Policies are seemed too unclear or necessary. Because according to bank employee some policies are not following on the merit base. Most of the HR policies are unclear so the majority of the employee could not follow them. According to this system, an employee might not feel great sense of motivation or satisfaction due to NBP Policies. NBP is required to minimize the employee dissatisfaction by making Policies are fair and apply equally to all workers.
Since this bank is not performing under the boundary of Punjab, the bank is working as a scheduled commercial bank with its network of 273 branches at all major business centers in Pakistan, the bank provides all types of banking service such as a deposit in local currency, clients deposit in foreign currency etc. NBP is performing their activities another province too. You could get its branch network from its official website, as it is functioning in another province with the sport of Government,
As we know that internship report of the national bank of Pakistan is a great tool for getting practical and professional knowledge. As you have seen, I have done my internship in NBP branch at Sahiwal. I have learned a lot of professional activities from this branch. I have worked in the various department, learned something new from each, explanation about tasks is available in training program Report portion. After writing comprehensively report on NBP I have reached at this point, on some aspects, NBP has strength over other banks as you have seen in the SWOT analysis. But on the other hand, during my stay at this branch and after writing this report, I have found some issue regarding NBP Promotion activities. NBP do not have a modern marketing concept as compared to others, due to less participation in promotion activities NBP is facing low sales or low deposit. Presently now till NBP has adopting tradition activities, but NBP management cannot know it is the age of competitions.
As I have written in the critical analysis NBP HR practice is also very poor. Employee motivation, employee job satisfaction is not up to the market. NBP has not any sound Performance appraisal system, where an employee could get maximum benefits. On the other hand, NBP needs a good supervision and leadership because the role of the supervisor is very difficult. It requires sound leadership skills and ability to treat all employees fairly. NBP should teach your supervisors, managers to use positive feedback. I have also observed NBP is not offering an attractive salary to their employees as compared to other banks. Salary is not a motivator for workers. But they do want to be paid fairly. NBP has to make sure that it has clear policies regarding salaries and bonuses.
